1. Registration
Firstly, you have to complete the Single User or Family registration form fully in order to post your or your family's entry on to the site. A Family Registration is a maximum of 2 adults and up to 2 children.
Certain questions which we ask will be used solely for administration purposes, whilst others will be used for your Personal Profile. Your contact address, telephone number and email address will NOT be displayed on your Personal Profile.
You have to be over 16 years of age to register, or have a parent or legal guardian join on your behalf.
If you are wishing to register and record the life of a deceased relative or close friend you may do so, however you must provide us with details of the relationship you had with that person to avoid abuse. We have to restrict this to close relatives (parent, uncle/aunt, brother/sister, child/grandchild, niece/nephew) or if different a legal Executor of that person's Will. Under our Terms and Conditions, you guarantee that the information recorded is an accurate portrayal of that person and their life.
E-News - when registering, you will be invited to sign up for the MeRemembered e-news option. This will enable you to receive information on matters relating to the site, including competitions, media stories, interesting entries, new site features, biography extracts from someone famous - past or present and special offers.

2. Cost and payment
As part of the Registration process, you will be asked to complete the payment section and provide your credit/debit card details. This is done using Secure Trading, one of the internet's most recognised and secure payment protocols. For those wishing to register without a credit/debit card, you can pay using a cheque, made payable to 'The Communications Practice':

Details of Single User and Family Registration Fees can be found on the Pricing Packages pages. The fee will provide you with unlimited space for your text and approximately 20 pictures (correctly formatted).
For those wishing to enhance their entry, we have devised a Multimedia Package which enables either a Single User or Family Registrant to add as many video clips to their entry as they like by acquiring additional space.
After your first year Registration Fee, your annual fee for information storage and updating reduces. Should you wish at any time to cancel your registration and have your entry removed from the site, you have to put this in writing to MeRemembered stating whether you wish your entry to be immediately removed or at the end of the period already paid for.
In the unfortunate event that a registrant passes away, their entry will automatically remain on the site for posterity, however it can only be amended/updated if approval has been given to a relative or an Executor of your Will. This will require the annual fee to be paid, enabling up to 12 months access to the entry.

3. A bit about me
Once you have registered and your payment has been accepted, you are immediately able to start completing your entry. Alternatively, for those wishing to do this at a later stage, all those registered will be sent a unique User Name and Password by email to unable them to log on to their account at any time to add/amend their entry. You are able to draft your story and make notes before publishing them to your entry, thus ensuring you are 100% happy with the content before anyone can view.
Your entry will consist of a Personal Profile, 'About Me' containing your Name, DOB, title, gender, marital status, name of partner/spouse, number of children, details of siblings, relationship status* and town/city you come from or currently live in. In addition, you can accompany this by uploading your favourite picture, ideally a facial shot of yourself. Each 'About Me' page will also enable you to write a brief résumé of your life (up to 250 words). If you happen to be looking for a relationship, you are able to have this flagged up as part of your profile, enabling contact to be made via your Message Board.
'About Me' will be the first page anyone searching the site will see of your entry, however, there are also links through to your 13 category pages enabling you to record exactly what you want to say about your life, starting with your childhood and running through your life in a chronological sequence. You will be supplied with relevant prompts to assist when recording your entry. These are designed to help you remember certain facets of your life; however, you are free to say as much or as little about yourself (or a loved one, if you are compiling an entry for a lost friend and/or relative). Certain category pages will contain text boxes with, if some cases, a drop down menu, to help you record specific useful information about you. You do not need to fill these in unless you wish to.
Pictures - you are able to supplement your text entry will as many pictures as your standard entry allows (up to 1.5mb including text). This should enable you to upload approximately 2 pictures per category if correctly formatted. You will be provided with guidance on how to correctly format your picture size to minimise the amount of space a picture takes up, thus giving you as many pictures as part of your entry as possible. You do not have to use any pictures if you don't want to, however we believe an entry will be enhanced if you do, both for the person completing the entry and for those browsing.
Multimedia - for those wishing to supplement their text/picture entry with either video and/or audio clips, by upgrading to the Multimedia Package, you can buy sufficient space to do so. Terrific for those with special occasions recorded, like an anniversary, birthday, award ceremony or the like.
Message Board - each entry will have its own Message Board area, located on the 'About Me' page. This enables someone browsing your entry to send you a message, which, if you desire, can be saved on to your Message Board for others to see. Alternatively, the message can remain private. You are then able to respond to the message should you wish.
Announcements - each entry will have its own Announcements area, located on the 'About Me' page. This provides an opportunity to let friends, relatives or casual browsers know about a significant event in your life, for example: getting married/divorced; the birth of a child; a death; winning an award; joining a group; being promoted; your children/grandchildren's exam results and so on.
Related Links - for those who have a relative, friend, work colleague, fellow group member either also on MeRemembered or has their own website, they will be able to list those links (up to a maximum of 6).
Printed Version - whilst MeRemembered has been established principally as an internet-only facility, we have recognised that some people would like to have a hard-copy printed version of their entry. Therefore we have enabled
the site to print a PDF of your Personal Profile and accompanying Category pages. These can be collated and bound in an A4 binder and either kept by you or presented to a third-party for a special occasion.

4. Searching
Once your entry has gone live on the MeRemembered site, it will be visible to those browsing the site. Whether a person has registered themselves or not, they will be able to enter search keywords in order to find a specific entry or search for those with a common interest. Searches can be carried out, for example, on someone's name, town/city born in or current, DOB, companies worked for, educational establishments attended, memberships, those looking for a relationship, those looking for a new job, and many more.

5. Posterity
Your entry will be on the site for posterity and viewing by anyone in the future, including relatives, friends, family historians, in fact anyone who has an interest in you. It could also be a casual browser who, having come across your entry, gains a valuable insight into what you as a person, however ordinary, were really like - not what someone may say about you. Time distorts people's memories, therefore a MeRemembered entry could prove a valuable tool to ensure your life is recorded accurately.
As referred to earlier, when you pass away your entry will remain on the site exactly how it was when it was last updated, unless: a) you leave instructions for a third-person to update your site, namely a relative, friend or Executor of your Will, or b) you wish for your site to be removed. This will be done immediately instructions are received by us.
When a registrant does pass away and MeRemembered notified, we will trigger a field on your entry which records the date of your passing away. This will notify browsers in the future of your demise, however allow them to send a message to the person authorised to manage your site, enabling them to post this message to your Message Board if they see fit.

6. Security
The security of your entry and details is of utmost importance to us. Firstly, we use one of the Internet's leading and trusted payment processing systems, Secure Trading. Secondly, your entry is both password and user name protected, ensuring that only you, or a person authorised by you, can enter and update details.
The MeRemembered server has SSL certification, giving 128bit encryption for your personal data storage.
For all payments we use digital signatures and strong encryption to ensure that all sensitive information is protected throughout a transaction. These computer systems are protected by managed firewalls and are located in physically secure locations with restricted access.
